Never News: How to help people in Minnesota during the ICE occupation
Hi everybody, it's Producer Georgia. You're still going to get your regular newsletter in your inbox later today. But first, I wanted to offer up another, smaller newsletter-type thing for you in light of what's going on in the Midwest right now.
I am sure you, like I, have been following the horrific events taking place in Minnesota. Today as I write this, a five year-old boy named Liam and his father were taken by ICE and sent to Texas. You, too, may have seen the image of Liam in his blue bunny hat, scared and alone, being led to a car by a faceless man whose white hand grips the back of Liam's Spider-Man backpack. Every day, there are new horrors. But we stave off the terror with action, and so I took it upon myself to offer some resources on where and how to help:
Here is a general summary of what's going on in Minnesota, and how to help
If you have the funds to do so, below is a list of some organizations to donate to to, suggested to me by Minneapolis resident and Senior Producer of the show, Hans Buetow:
MIRAC (Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee)
And here are a collection of reliable journalists/news orgs to follow for more information about what's going on in MN:
If you have any specific journalists, organizations, GoFundMe's, or other relevant links that would be good to share on the newsletter, let me know via this Google form. I'll be checking it, and will plan to include more links in future newsletters as everything continues to play out.
Stay safe, stay vigilant. All we have is each other.
