Never News: STREAM WEEK DETAILS!
Hello hello beautiful people in my computer! Producer Georgia here to get you excited, thrilled, tantalized, and more for our upcoming MEMBER DRIVE STREAM WEEK!!
Like last year, we will be livestreaming every day over at twitch.tv/theneverpost starting on Monday, August 17th and going through Friday, August 21st. We're bringing back some beloved games from last year (Wikipedia Races π Best Internet Things π a visit to my closet but this time with a game component π ) and some new, fun stuff we are very excited for you to see. Plus, there will be giveaways, ...special guests..., surprises, secret streams, and NEW MERCH!!
We're hoping to add 200 new paid members by the end of the year, and this member drive is our plan to get us at least halfway there. With 200 more members paying to support our work, we would be able to:
- Make 2 members only episodes per month (instead of just 1)
- Add to the operating budget for the show to allow us to make more ambitious work in 2027
- Unveil a SECOND piece of Never Post merch!
For our beloved members, think of Stream Week as a persistent reminder of our devotion to you and our dedication to making the show that we care about so, so much. But we'd also like to use it as a way to introduce possible new listeners - ideally, new members - to our work. There's something for everyone, and I hope you'll encourage folks to tune in to any/all of the truly incredible bits/segments/games/brief periods of insanity we have in store for you.

MONDAY
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM β Official Kickoff and Merch Reveal!
The whole team kicks off this week of madness, insanity, and excitement with a reveal of NEW MERCH!! This design is very different from the two shirts we unveiled last year, and I think you're gonna freak out. So come check it out!
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM β Wikipedia Races with Tom Lum and Annie Rauwerda
Back, back, back again, we're playing Wikipedia Races with the best two possible players: beloved friend of the show/science educator extraordinaire Tom Lum and Depths of Wikipedia legend herself, Annie Rauwerda. In case you forgot how the game works, here's the skinny: we'll start at a random wiki page, then roll a D20 to figure out how many hyperlinks we must click away from that page. Then, it's up to us to try to find our way BACK to that first random page in a different way from which we came. It's a lot of yelling, a lot of unexpected detours through unimaginably specific wiki pages, and it's a blast.

The NP team presents websites that they think are so powerful, so extraordinary, so hyper-specific in their usefulness, that they must be shared.
TUESDAY
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM β Morning Doomscroll with Bijan Stephen
Mike and beloved friend of the show Bijan Stephen start the day chatting about the life, the internet, and where those things intersect.
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM β Interview with Experts Buket BayrΔ± and Myrto Veikou
Mike talks with two scholars about how the concept of liminal spaces existed...in Byzantium. Yes, it's true, the concept of the backrooms predates not only the internet but also the invention of pretty much everything we associate with modern day liminality (the shopping mall, office buildings, parking lots, fluorescent lighting). I'm especially interested in this β come learn with me!
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM β Meet The Pets and Books
IT IS TIME ONCE AGAIN FOR YOU TO SEE MY CAT BEEFCAKE and also the other beloved pets of the Never Post staff. Plus, a show and tell of sorts, in which we show off interesting β dare I say even perhaps bizarre β books we love!
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM β Paper Report
If you're an NP member, you've listened to our first-ever version of this, where the Never Post staff choose internet-y academic papers that we've read, present them to each other, and discuss them. Now, we're doing it for you LIVE ON STREAM!
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM β Video Game Stream: Chronotrigger
Come witness as we and a band of misfits travel through time and attempt to stop THE END OF THE WORLD!

Behold as Rory and I play a Sonic-themed racing game with what I can only describe as the most overwhelming visuals I have ever seen in my life. I am certain I will be terrible at it, so come cheer me on please God don't let me sacrifice myself at the altar of Sonic I NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM β Georgia's Closet Roulette With Avery Truffelman
I'm taking you all back into the recesses of my overstuffed closet, this time with a twist. This time, we're going to push the edges of fashion with a game of closet roulette! Here's how it works: I have set aside pieces of clothing in a selection of categories (tops, bottoms, shoes, etc). Trust that I have chosen....intentionally strange or difficult-to-style pieces. I will then roll a d6 to determine which piece I must wear from each category. Once the outfit has been assembled, it's up to me and Avery to figure out how to turn a fashion crime to a fashion success. Somehow...we WILL make these fashions fashionable!

The Never Post team plays another game of chance, this time with the love of music on the line. Here's the plan: we go to Bandcamp's homepage, pick music at random from their "selling right now" scroll list, and listen to it. Then, we'll continue down the rabbit hole, clicking "more like this" to see if we can land on music that we're all grooving to. Much discussion about music, genre, and preference to look forward to here. Come join us on the journey!
